REUNION 2007 Report PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 03 December 2007

A big thank you to all who attended REUNION 2007 and who took part in the sporting events of the day despite the weather!

As I am sure you will all agree the event was a huge success and overall we counted over 100 former Bredon School pupils at the event which was a fantastic turn out. I hope that all those who attended will agree with me that the school put on a very grand display and both current pupils and staff were very welcoming to us all.

As for those who were not able to attend this year's event we are already in the planning stages for next year's event, scheduled provisionally for the 30th of November. So for those who like to plan ahead there’s no excuse for not being notified on time.

Just a quick thanks to some of those who made the day such a big success. Firstly to the Birmingham Exiles Rugby Club for helping out our Old Bredonians Rugby team by supplying the opposition. I am sure it was a struggle for them to be on the pitch for the second time in as many days, however they provided tough competition for our lot. However I am especially grateful as one of their team members was ref!

I would also like to thank Doug Sharp for his support and for the work he has done behind the scenes. He organised the catering and stuffed all those invitation envelopes to send out. If ever there is a job going at the post office I am sure Doug would be the man!

A big thank you must also go out to David Keyte and his staff and pupils at the school, especially the catering staff who had a job on their hands as we had not quite expected the numbers we ended up with but they did a great job of catering for everyone and making sure no one went home hungry.

Lastly a big thank you to our former chairman Andrew Root who over the last 13 years has steered the Old Bredonians Association through to the successful organisation it is today and I think its testimony was the success of this year’s event.

I would like to finish by thanking all those who attended the event and caught up with old friends and even established new ones during the day. I hope all found the day entertaining and worthwhile. I would welcome your comments as soon as you can, to come into us here as we are planning to be even bigger and better next year for REUNION 2008. I know it seems a long time away but it will soon be upon us. So make a note in your diary and don’t forget to drop your suggestions to us via the site as to how you would like to see the day unfold next year.

Once again thank you all for attending and please keep an eye on this site for our other forthcoming events soon, watch this space!

Regards,

Russell Reed.

Old Bredonians Website Coordinator.

The Old Bredonians Association regrets to announce the death of OB Justin Morton, who was at the School in the late 1980s. Justin, of Hanley Swan (close to the School), passed away in a hospice early on Tuesday 16 October 2007 after a long battle with cancer. Our condolences go to his family and friends. His funeral takes place next Wednesday, 24 October, at 2pm at St Gabriel's church in Hanley Swan. There will also be a farewell ceremony at Upton Marina at 4pm until late. It is not yet known whether the family would like flowers or would prefer donations to be made to the cancer charity that Justin supported: more information will follow.
