The Schools Challenge country sports event established last year by Old Bredonian David Florent (1996-2001) goes from strength to strength.
The day-long event held at the Oxford Gun Company – run by the Florent family – featured shooting and an off-road drive, together with a number of other attractions provided by sponsors.
It brought together three OBs, who are pictured together: (left-right) Alex Thorneycroft-Taylor, of the Country Sports Directory, David Florent and Daniel Martin, of the Prescott Shooting Grounds, near Cheltenham.
“It was a great day, with some excellent shooting and, just as importantly, everybody having a good time,” said David. “I would like to thank our sponsors, who helped make it all possible.”
The 2007 event featured around 150 entrants from 12 schools from across the country – up from five schools last year. They included Millfield, Wellington College and Stowe, as well as other schools in both the independent and maintained sectors.
There were competitions for both prep. and senior schools, with Ladies’ categories at both age levels.
Bredon School was among the sponsors of the event and brought along its exhibition stand.
