Old Bredonians Association: 2007 REUNION - Sunday 2nd December

To all Old Bredonians,

I am proud to be an Old Bredonian; I am extremely proud to have been a member of the committee for 13 years. 2007 has been one of the most productive years in nearly 10 years in the running and the organisation of the association. My thanks go to the committee, but also to a number of Old Bredonians who have given us fresh ideas and support!
  • On 7th May at Bredon, I was privileged to witness the annual fun day. I was amazed at the support for this event, despite typical Bank Holiday weather. I was pleased to see and meet a number of Old Bredonians who were either involved in or were visiting the event.
  • The day before Founders Day!! (What did you get up to on that particular day when you were at school?) Give me your answers at the 2007 REUNION.
  • On 4th July, a brief presentation was given to the summer leavers explaining what the association is all about. It is the first time we have done this, and judging by the response, it was definitely worthwhile! My thanks to Pete Basten (Yep, he's still there) for allowing us time, but also to the group of students who are now official Old Bredonians for their ideas and reactions.
  • I look forward to seeing all the leavers from Summer 2007, especially Rhona, Jo, Kieran, Jaivin, Jessica, Lizzie, Katy, Simon and Jolyon who were some of those present on the 4th July. I am sure some of you are willing to assist in the Old Bredonian Association, along with Matt Cooney who will be a contact for recent leavers who are keen to take part in the sporting events on the 2nd December.
  • I would like to challenge you all to create information on a handful of Old Bredonians from a variety of years, so we can include it on our website newsletter which can be seen in early 2008 on our website: www.oldbredonians.org
  • 1971 / 1979 / 1986 / 1993 / 2000 / 2003 / 2006 If you left in these years, I would like to hear from you. (If you didn’t leave in these years, that isn’t a good enough excuse: I still want to hear from you)
As some of you may be aware, I am stepping down as chairman of the Old Bredonians on 2nd December 2007, due to personal and work commitments.
There is nothing I would want more than for the 2007 REUNION on that date to be the biggest and most successful for a long time. This can only be achieved by asking all Old Bredonians to make a significant effort in supporting the new style of REUNION event, whether it is in a social capacity, creatively by collating information to input on the website, utilising artistic talents or in a sporting capacity. The Old Bredonians are expanding and have the finances to self/part-fund projects that could benefit its members. To find out more about this, I would like to invite you to the Annual General Meeting, which is also on Sunday 2nd December 2007 @ Bredon School. If anyone is interested in the organisation of the association, then please
contact me or any of the committee.

Look forward to seeing you
cheers Rooty

Andy Root, Chairman
